Assessment
Services

  • Functional capacity assessments are completed by an Occupational Therapist to identify the level and type of support for NDIS participants.

These typically comprise of family interviews, clinical observations and use of standardised measures in accordance with NDIS guidelines.

  • Initial Assessments are completed by an Occupational Therapy to identify areas of concern in your child’s development.

An initial assessment is typically completed before we begin regular therapy services. It is a thorough assessment of your child’s abilities including:

    • Gross Motor Skills

    • Fine Motor Skills

    • Handwriting Skills

    • Social and Play Skills

    • Sensory Skills

    • Emotional Regulation Skills

    • Self-Care Skills

  • Sensory profiles are used to identify if your child has sensory differences. They allow us to work with families to develop coping strategies and improve daily function. The body sensory system is comprised of the following 8 senses:

    • Vision

    • Hearing

    • Smell

    • Taste

    • Touch

    • Balance (vestibular)

    • Body awareness (proprioception)

    • Interoception (internal sensations such as temperature, pain and toileting)

Some children may experience sensory differences in one or more of these areas.

Therapy
Services

  • After the initial assessment, your therapist will complete a goal-setting meeting to guide ongoing supports based on you and your child’s needs.

Bee You offers weekly or fortnightly sessions that are 45 minutes or 1 hour in length in addition to 15 minutes of administration.

This will allow time for your therapist to discuss strategies with you and send you a summary of the session so you and your child can continue to practice between sessions.

  • Some children benefit from an intensive approach to Occupational Therapy over a shorter period of time (block therapy).

This typically includes a 1-2 sessions each week for 12-14 weeks.

    Examples of intensive therapy:

    • Handwriting

    • Toileting support

    • Social Skills

  • At Bee You Therapy we believe in the importance of supporting parents, guardians and carers.

We include parent/guardian/carer coaching in all of our therapy services so we can empower YOU when you support your child.
